Neferti is a proposal for a project in Hyperledger labs. Re: NEFERTI
Hyperledger labs is an open source code community with a low barrier to entry. Any and all are welcome to join and contribute to the lab. The lab maintainers will be the governors. neferti plans a low-code and highly secure implementation to issue and trade NFTs, in a protocol agnostic way. neferti code will address market place utilities for issuance and trading of NFTs. neferti implementation will allow for extensibility and openness. An initial reference Hyperledger Fabric implementation is planned.

Reducing Methane Leakage and Flaring through Supply Chain Tokens-While the world tries to avert the worst of climate change, most scenarios still show the oil and gas industry remaining a significant part of the global energy system for several decades to come.  During this transition, however, we must do everything possible to reduce the climate impact from continued use of fossil fuels. 

A top priority is to reduce the amount of methane that is leaked and flared during the production of oil and natural gas. Methane trapped in the geological formations of oil and gas wells is often disposed of as a safety measure, but also leaked or vented to the atmosphere when infrastructure is not available to gather, process and distribute it as natural gas for a profit. This is typical in remote and undeveloped areas (the highest rates are observed in Africa, Figure 1) where methane is burned (flared) and converted into Carbon Dioxide (CO₂), or worse, vented or leaked.

Hyperledger In-depth with IBM: Tokens in Hyperledger Fabric: What's possible today and what's coming - March 17th, 2022 - Register

Tokenizing the physical world is a hot blockchain topic in the industry, especially as it relates to the trade of tokens as a basis of new forms of commerce. In this Hyperledger Foundation member webinar, the IBM Research team will describe what tokenization use cases are possible with Hyperledger Fabric today, and what enhancements are in the works.

New Hyperledger Governance, Risk and Compliance Special Interest Group Launched. The Hyperledger GRC SIG intends to focus on the adoption of blockchain technology in solving digital trust issues, making GRC practices more transparent, and simplifying the adoption by GRC practitioners. More details here

ToIP Working Group Announcement- The Trust Over IP Foundation is a Hyperledger sister project at the Linux Foundation. Trust over IP's Utility Foundry Working Group ("UFWG") has kicked off its new year with a new focus and announced a new leadership team of Co-Chairs: Jessica Townsend (Accenture), Lynn Bendixen (Indicio), Alex Tweeddale (cheqd). The UFWG supports the emergence, alignment and operation of public, Layer 1 utilities that provide the cryptographic basis of trust for digital identities, decentralised identifiers (DIDs) key management and Verifiable Credentials (VCs). More details here

Hyperledger Aries Quarterly Highlights: 

• Aries React Native mobile wallets are being deployed by various groups into the App Stores
• New repo "aries-mediator-service" created that can be used by mobile wallet providers as an Aries Mediator to enable communication between the mobile wallet and all other Aries agent

Hyperledger Fabric Quarterly Highlights: 

• The project is working on a v2.5.0 release with a feature to Purge the history of private data. The feature may help organizations meet GDPR requirements with the ability to delete private data while preserving a hash of the data on the blockchain.
• v2.5.0 is expected to be the next Long Term Support (LTS) version of Hyperledger Fabric
• Discussion about a future Fabric v3.0 release was kicked off in January

Hyperledger Foundation Names Hart Montgomery As Chief Technology Officer-Hyperledger Foundation, the open, global ecosystem for enterprise blockchain technologies, today announced that Hart Montgomery has joined the organization as its Chief Technology Officer. In this new role, he will be the technical leader for Hyperledger Foundation, ensuring the health and transparency of the development community and all its projects. A long-time member of the Hyperledger Technical Steering committee and contributor to multiple projects and labs, Montgomery is deeply knowledgeable about the technology, marketplace and community. He will be key to scaling the growing pipeline of Hyperledger projects and maximizing the open source model to deliver the next generation of enterprise blockchain technologies. 

Hyperledger Mentorship Overview

2022 Hyperledger Mentorship Program Calling for Projects and Mentors- In the 6th year of our paid mentorship program Hyperledger Foundation is funding up to 30 mentorship projects. The project proposal submission deadline for Mentors is March 9th and projects will be announced and will open for mentee applications starting March 28th. More details here

        This is the 6th year of the Hyperledger Mentorship Program. The program has grown steadily over the years; it has connected many mentors and mentees from around the globe to contribute their enthusiasm, time, and experience toward building a more sustainable Hyperledger community. You can learn more about the growth of this program and previous year's mentees' contributions and mentors' reflections by reading some of our blog posts:

•  2019 summary blog along with individual mentees' closing blogs   

• a reflection blog by Attila Klenik, a mentor in 2019, along with mentees' closing blogs

• 2020 mentors' sharing what's important, rewarding and challenging about their work

• 10 things to know about Hyperledger Mentorship Program

• 2021 mentorship spotlights highlighting contributions by and reflections of mentors and mentees

Hyperledger and the whole Linux Foundation are big believers in the value of mentorship in growing open source communities. And we have heard from many contributors that mentorship played an important role in their involvement in an open source project/community. Any innovation that advances the current state-of-the-art of enterprise-grade distributed ledger technologies leveraging one or more Hyperledger projects is eligible for the Hyperledger Challenge.   The Hyperledger Challenge 2022 Kick Off Informational Session, was hosted on Thursday, February 24, 2022.

The Challenge will feature three rounds, called “Ideate”, “Prototype”, and “Launch”, to develop innovations from idea to sustainable solutions in the manner of months. Innovators competing in the challenges will have access to training, mentors and the Hyperledger community to support the development of their solution. The Hyperledger community is committed to be a driving force to incorporating Diversity, Civility, and Inclusion into programs. Innovators are greatly encouraged to consider diversity and inclusion when developing their teams.

Comments have been made to the University Curriculum in the ReviewMyElearning platform and will now be moving The University Curriculum has been moved to Google docs for ease of updating and expanding community participation.  New Google Doc format launching the week of February 7thavailable for interested contributors.

ACT-IAC is working on an update to their blockchain primer and would like to include updated Hyperledger blockchain terms, let us know if you would like to contribute.
