Introduction to Learning Materials Working Group:  Learning Materials Development Working Group

The Learning Materials Development working group reports to the Hyperledger Technical Steering Committee. It is focused on developing open-source training material (licensed as specified by the Hyperledger Charter) to educate people interested in expanding their knowledge of Hyperledger and its projects. The working group will consult with other Hyperledger working groups, Hyperledger team members, and the project maintainers to identify training needs and develop strategies, as well as, material to address those needs. The output of this working group will be targeted towards both technical and non-technical audiences.

New Hyperledger Governance, Risk and Compliance Special Interest Group Launched.

 The Hyperledger GRC SIG intends to focus on the adoption of blockchain technology in solving digital trust issues, making GRC practices more transparent, and simplifying the adoption by GRC practitioners. More details here
ToIP Working Group Announcement- The Trust Over IP FoundationA Hyperledger sister project at the Linux Foundation. Trust over IP's Utility Foundry Working Group ("UFWG") has kicked off its new year with a new focus and announced a new leadership team of Co-Chairs: Jessica Townsend (Accenture), Lynn Bendixen (Indicio), Alex Tweeddale (cheqd). The UFWG supports the emergence, alignment and operation of public, Layer 1 utilities that provide the cryptographic basis of trust for digital identities, decentralised identifiers (DIDs) key management and Verifiable Credentials (VCs). More details here

New Projects
Neferti Neferti is a proposal for a project in Hyperledger labs. Re: NEFERTI
Hyperledger labs is an open source code community with a low barrier to entry. Any and all are welcome to join and contribute to the lab. The lab maintainers will be the governors. neferti plans a low-code and highly secure implementation to issue and trade NFTs, in a protocol agnostic way. neferti code will address market place utilities for issuance and trading of NFTs. neferti implementation will allow for extensibility and openness. An initial reference Hyperledger Fabric implementation is planned.

Hyperledger Aries Quarterly Highlights

  • Aries React Native mobile wallets are being deployed by various groups into the App Stores
  • New repo "aries-mediator-service" created that can be used by mobile wallet providers as an Aries Mediator to enable communication between the mobile wallet and all other Aries agent
Hyperledger Fabric Hyperledger Fabric Quarterly Highlights: 
  • The project is working on a v2.5.0 release with a feature to Purge the history of private data. The feature may help organizations meet GDPR requirements with the ability to delete private data while preserving a hash of the data on the blockchain.
  • v2.5.0 is expected to be the next Long Term Support (LTS) version of Hyperledger Fabric
  • Discussion about a future Fabric v3.0 release was kicked off in January

Hyperledger Moved To Discord
Hyperledger Foundation Names Hart Montgomery As Chief Technology Officer-Hyperledger Foundation, the open, global ecosystem for enterprise blockchain technologies, today announced that Hart Montgomery has joined the organization as its Chief Technology Officer. In this new role, he will be the technical leader for Hyperledger Foundation, ensuring the health and transparency of the development community and all its projects. A long-time member of the Hyperledger Technical Steering committee and contributor to multiple projects and labs, Montgomery is deeply knowledgeable about the technology, marketplace and community. He will be key to scaling the growing pipeline of Hyperledger projects and maximizing the open source model to deliver the next generation of enterprise blockchain technologies.

VI. Old Business

The University Curriculum has been moved to Google docs for ease of updating and expanding community participation.  New Google Doc format available for interested contributors.

ACT-IAC is working on an update to their blockchain primer and would like to include updated Hyperledger blockchain terms, let us know if you would like to contribute.

VII. New Business

LMDWG Task Force Creation

The LMDWG will be supporting a spring Hyperledger Career Fair and are looking to include international markets in this Fair as well.   Two event dates will be latter part of April and latter part of May and organizers will provide Hyperledger with full schedule of Spring event at least two weeks prior to the first in the two-part series.
