组织者陈思向中国技术工作组介绍气候组的工作。我们的讨论包括：

  1. 气候组的各种工作组，包括气候会计和证件组，标准组，商品揭露组。
  2. 为什么气候从一个环境问题变成了一个国际贸易，商业问题。
  3. “气候管理操作系统” - 我们的开源软件现在已经是一个Hyperledger Labs项目。它的三个功能包括: 用Hyperledger Fabric记录数据和计算碳排放，在Ethereum发行代币，然后用Ethereum Distributed Autonomous Organization (DAO) 证定或否定气候主张。这个系统现在正在开始从开发到应用中。我们已经在Amazon云中用Kubernetes和XDAI配置。
  4. 怎么用“温室气体协定“（Greenhouse Gas Protocol) 计算企业和商品的气候影响。
  5. 欧洲的碳气排放许可交易和可能的“碳进口税。” （参考）
  6. 同我们气候组，供应链组，贸易金融组协会的机会。

同时我也从中国技术工作组了解到了现在在中国发展区块链的情况：

  1. 中国技术工作组的工作包括技术发展，把软件在中国适应（比如符合中国加密法的要求），翻译软件和教育资料，和协助应用者的开发。
  2. 主要发展的技术是Fabric，有少数人用Indy和Cactus。
  3. 主要应用的范围是企业，金融，和商务。
  4. 由于现在禁止用代币（不可以用代币交换法币），应用的范围就只包括数据记录和企业合作。
  5. 数据人民币现在只有在个人代替钞票应用，没有企业之间应用。
  6. 现在中国国内对用区块链做碳交易有些兴趣，为了满足2030碳高峰，2060碳中和的目标。

下一步我们计划继续讨论：

  • 碳交易：什么结构，怎么执行。
  • 碳的计算标准和基本软件。
  • 应用Cactus链接不同的区块链。

On May 25 at 10 AM Beijing time, Si Chen introduced the CA2SIG to the Hyperledger Technical Working Group China.  During this call we discussed:

  1. General overview of the CA2SIG and the different working groups
  2. Importance of climate as a global trade issue
  3. Our Hyperledger Labs project for blockchain carbon accounting
  4. Greenhouse Gas Protocol for calculating company and product emissions
  5. European Emissions Allowance trading scheme 

We also discussed the work of the Hyperledger Technical Working Group China and the current state of blockchain and climate in China:

  1. The TWG China is currently involved in technical development, including adapting Hyperledger to local requirements such as China's Encryption Law, translation of the software and training materials, and assisting in implementations.
  2. Currently the predominant use of Hyperledger in China is Fabric, with small number of users of Indy and Cactus.
  3. Key use cases include enterprise collaboration, finance, and trade.
  4. Partly due to the recent ban on cryptocurrencies in China, which extends to any token that can be exchanged for fiat money, the blockchain projects are focused on data collection and collaboration.  
  5. The Central Bank Digital Currency, digital RMB, is currently only used as a substitute for cash by consumers and has not been used in any B2B applications. 
  6.  Climate is becoming an issue of interest in China with the government's recent climate goals ("Peak carbon by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060").  There is discussion about carbon emissions allowances and trading and the possibility of the blockchain playing a role in such schemes.

We planned some follow up discussions around:

  • How to implement carbon emissions trading using blockchain
  • Standards and common reference open source software for calculating emissions
  • Using Cactus to connect different blockchain networks.
