Q&A

1. In the hourglass model IP (Internet protocol) functions as a spanning protocol from local area networks to the outside (through the ume narrow neck of the hourglass), should we not be limiting the narrow neck of the TSP to interacting with protocols? Short answer by Drummond: Yes!
2. What is possible in IOT interaction (from the 7 pillars)? Answer IOT device needs cryptographic capability. Some co-chairs are experts in this.
3. Channel meta-data privacy - Traffic analysis may reveal volumes unless we have spoofing and other random traffic unconnected to regular interactions. Not in scope for the moment.

          Technology Architecture TF

        • The primary progress has been on the ToIP Glossary Workspace. Drummond said that it currently has ~200 terms, with only four currently still required definitions. The next steps are:

          • Complete the remaining TODO definitions.
          • Identify any other terms missing from final or draft ToIP specifications or white papers.
          • Identify any terms for which consensus on the distinguishing criteria is particularly important and assign those to the relevant WGs or TFs.
          • Consolidate all the definitions into our standard glossary format.
          • Ingest the glossary into our TEv2 (Terminology Engine v2) tooling when ready.

        Trust Registry TF — Darrell O'Donnell Antti Kettunen Andor Kesselman

        • 3 proposals were made and recorded. 
          1. Andor Kesselman presented on June 15. Focus was at DID Document level to allow for discovery and integration via "Profiles"
          2. Mathieu Glaude presented on June 29. Introduced a "Trust Input Protocol" concept that covers a future generic protocol that the Trust Registry Protocol should fit under.
          3. Darrell O'Donnell presented on July 6. Focused on interaction with existing systems-of-record that fill the role of "trust registry" and standardizing that interaction. This was essentially a new version of the first-generation protocol.
        • The first meeting on consolidation of the proposals was last week

        Trust Spanning Protocol TF — Drummond Reed Wenjing Chu Samuel Smith

        • We hope to arrive at a consolidated strawman by early August.
        • Our goal is a complete Working Draft (and implementation!) by IIW #37 (Oct 10-12).

        ACDC TF — Samuel Smith Phil Feairheller 

        • Phil said the TF is continuing to refine the ACDC spec sections covering graduated disclosure.
        • They have recently completed a digital authorization and signing POC in Europe.

        • • One of the three major tasks remaining (use cases, glossary, and 3rd generation ToIP stack diagram) is done! See the agenda item below.
          • Work on the glossary is ongoing and should be completed later this month.
          • The same for the 3rd generation ToIP stack diagram, for which the new ToIP blog post about the Trust Spanning Protocol (see below) is a key input.

          Trust Registry TF 

          • Work has split into two main efforts:
            1. Trust Registry Protocol - getting to a v2 of the TRP
            2. Profile Concept - how can a DID provide an indication of what services it provides? Extends DID Core specification (informally - using existing data structures)
               • DID Core - DID Doc points to a Trust Registry, but also shares the "things" that the DID endpoint supports.

          Trust Spanning Protocol TF 

          • See the new blog post called Mid-Year Progress Report on the ToIP Trust Spanning Protocol for complete details about the "seven pillars" of the design.
          • After a break in August, we are restarting dual NA/EU and APAC meetings every Wednesday — see the ToIP Calendar for details.
          • Our goal is to present a relatively complete Working Draft at Internet Identity Workshop #37 Oct 10-12 in Mountain View, CA.

          ACDC TF

          • Updates to bring in new OWF license
          • Formatting clean-up across all specifications
          • Review of Selective Disclosure methods within ACDC.

          AI & Metaverse (AIM) Technology TF

        • Mathieu reported that the group is working to complete its analysis of four issuance protocols and four presentation protocols.
        • They have been spending the last few weeks developing criteria for evaluating the protocols.
        • They are taking a hiatus for the next two weeks, then planning to finish a first version by roughly the end of August.
