    On TSC election notification. I received heads-up TSC election emails on Sept 25 x 2 and Sept 28 x1 and my ballot from CIVS. However I received no 'marketing reminder' to cast my vote after those dates AFAIK.

    OTOH, I am being bombarded with emails about the upcoming Nov 3rd election. So many that Gmail is filtering emails into 'tabs' and spam, also gmail is auto suspending emails from lists that I have not paid attention to (which I think is a 'new' class of filtering).

      Glad you've received your ballot! And by "Nov 3rd election" of course I assume you mean the one having nothing to do with Hyperledger. (smile)

      It's entirely possible that gmail, in trying to be cute and "smart", has either autofiltered or even spam bucketed any emails using the words "election" or likewise. I am not a gmail user (except through GSuite for work emails, where this seems to be less of an issue than with personal emails), but from everything I hear about it I would not rely upon it for work or important projects.

    On the call today we described the email outreach tool we use to eligible voters as something called "Marketing Cloud". To clarify: this is a Salesforce product one uses when one has to send an email blast to a list of email addresses, akin to Mailchimp or other tools. We do this to send the notification to all 800+ voters regarding their eligibility to vote, to nominate candidates, that they should have received their ballot and reminders to vote, and then eventually the results. We do not presume all voters will be on the TSC list or see voting notifications in other channels. The other two ways to do this - a special "voters" list, or a mass send to everyone by BCC, have substantial issues that have come up in the past, particularly when it comes to anti-spam and deliverability. "Marketing Cloud" is integrated with the other tools the Linux Foundation uses for managing its projects and communities, and allows us to keep track of who's eligible to vote each year and other activities in a more systematic way. It will also tell us when email addresses fail when people change jobs, etc. So don't get confused or frustrated at the use of the word "marketing" here.
