III. 2021 Planning: Goals for the DCI WG 

For reference, here is the culmination of the WG's discussion from last year, we put together a number of TSC and Governing Board Motions, some of which have been and are being implemented, others which are included in the table below as part of our goals for 2021 broken down by themes. Please review them here: Turning Recommendations into Proposed Motions for the GB and TSC for reference.

Engagement and Partnerships - Nurture the pipeline

Identify Governing Board point persons to join DCI meetings and participate in our activitiesWe welcomed several new members who have jumped right into key areas (on the technical and marketing side). The following weeks should focus on aggregating more support for specific areas of the 2021 execution plan and following up with nominees who haven't yet attended.

TSC Meetings

Decision (2/5): Keep it bite sized and purposeful. Bring proposals up as workstreams require (avoid periodic inclusion w/o objectives). Suggest DCI topic lighting talks, provide tangible recommendations, or solicit feedback on certain programs. 

Grace Hartleyis on the TSC and has agreed to be the liaison on topics of interest.  

Cultural Campaigns & Monthly themes

Approach: Could build around international days that are centered in diversity, civility, and inclusion (see For example 1 March is the day of zero discrimination, , 16 November International Day for Tolerance , 3 December International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

DCI in Hyperledger technology 

Inclusive terminology in software and documentation

  2. Establish clear guidance on how projects can easily incorporate dci-lint 
  3. Share blog, Besu documentation of changes
  4. Recognition of Peter on upcoming TSC call with suggested along w/ socializing a plan for how projects can incorporate dci-lint

Community Recognition

  1. Badging: Hyperledger planning a pilot on this this year

Brainstorm "DCI Service Offerings" and create resources and references to disseminate to the community and create resources for the Hyperledger Community. 

Our goal here is to increasing contributors in projects and diversity in projects by providing templates, guides, and tools for the to use that make the work more attractive and accessible.

Finalize Maintainer responsibilities 

David and Lindsay to socialize potential trainings and requirements identified w/ maintainer community, and gather feedback.

Develop a guides for DCI in Open Source projects 

  1. Do some research on Mozilla, other open source communities, CHAOSS, Open source Diversity Foundation> do a landscape

Work on marketing & comms strategy Note: Group to revisit discussion on what DCI means.

  • Partner with other projects to create an LF-wide DCI community
  • Revist COC Proposal 
  • Support Hyperledger Localization Initiative
  • Relaunch speaker series 

  1. Turn high-level plans into a project plans in the thematic areas mentioned above 
  2. Create supporting success metrics to drive progress and collaboration
  3. Revisit and groom our backlog 
  4. Finalize w/ DCI and publish to wiki
