Agenda
- Introductions
- Review of resources available for running virtual meetups
- Observations on switch to virtual meetups
- There have been a lot of positives:
- General attendance at virtual meetups seems to be higher than in person meetups since anyone anywhere can join and not just people in the city where the event is happening
- Members of groups in smaller cities or in parts of the world were there aren't a lot of Hyperledger community members are benefiting since they hadn't been able to organize many in person meetups because there weren't many speakers nearby, but now there are a lot of meetups they can join
- Regional cooperation is happening more – the Hyperledger India Chapter had started this trend last year with their two national e-meetups and now we're seeing other regions doing the same sort of coordination, such as the recent Latin America regional meetup
- There are some challenges too:
- I think the main challenge is that meetups can now conflict in a way they couldn't before. If two in person meetups were happening in different cities that didn't matter since there were two different groups of people who could go to each, but now if there are two virtual meetups happening at the same time there is one audience who needs to choose which to go to.
- However, not all meetups conflict – one meetup in Spanish and one in English held at the same time would be appealing to two different audiences. And time zones matter too – a meetup in an APAC friendly time zone is appealing to a different audience than meetups in AMEA and North and South American time zones
- Other observations from your experience running and/or attending virtual meetups?
- There have been a lot of positives:
- Discussion of how we want to work together on virtual Hyperledger meetups
- Reviewing the results of the recent survey sent to meetup organizers
- Can we work together to schedule meetups to cover the different topics that people want to see covered?
- How many meetups do we want to organize each week?
- Who is interested in taking on running meetups in different languages?
- Other topics?
- How to best recruit relevant speakers that are not duplicating content from recent Virtual Meetups.
- How much time and number of speakers is optimal for these Meetups? How to best handle if the Meetup begins to run over the allotted time.

Hi David how are you?
Nice talking with you today, and many thanks for your feedback and advice, was very helpful your participation in our first "brainstorm session" about the creation of the LATAM Regional Chapter, in the other hand I'm wondering if there is a chance to lead the Mexico City Meetup Group acting as Organizer, As I mentioned before I don't see too much activity down here and I would like to have the opportunity to actively participate promoting Hyperledger in our City.
Please let me know your thoughts about this idea and I'll be more than happy to take this challenge.
Thanks in Advance and Have a Great Weekend.
David Boswell
Guillermo, I'm glad to hear you'd like to reactivate the Mexico City meetup group. I'll set you up as co-organizer and email you about next steps.

Of Course I'll participate on this may 1st, 2020 meeting

David Boswell maybe, I don't know where it is or another appropriate means, but is it possible to add calendar invites (ical, google, etc.) on this and subsequent pages, so it is a simple click to add to your calendar? I currently copy and paste onto my calendar, otherwise, I lose track and miss out . I'm just thinking to make it easier and convenient for others (and myself) who may forego the cut & paste. I appreciate your hard work and great job you do. Stay well and safe.
David Boswell
Mark Anthony Morris Yes, adding a calendar invite is a great idea. I was going to do that after giving people some time to suggest other times for this meeting. It seems like this time works, so I'll be sending out an invite later today.

I would like to suggest a channel be created on Hyperledger Youtube for archiving recorded Hyperledger Meetups. This would allow easy access without a need to filter on the main video page and search for recorded meetups. Interested parties and promoters could easily share and post links to their videos and the channel at large. I just like the idea of an Hyperledger Meetup Channel, and along the same train of thought I think we should begin either one or specific Channels for Hyperledger projects, including libraries and tools, to facilitate education by offering tutorials and webinars focusing on training. I think the more the merrier, since it is community driven and informal. The videos can be of any length, but always delivering informative educational material directly related to Hyperledger. They can be as simple as describing confusing terms to developing smart contracts to theory behind zero knowledge proofs used by Hyperledger, designing, and implementing, again focused on existing Hyperledger projects, libraries, and tools, so community members and interested parties can learn to use and leverage the wonderful work being produced by the Hyperledger developers and contributors.

Mark Anthony Morris – Thanks for the suggestion about YouTube. I saw that you had also posted this on the meetup organizer's mailing list and I responded there. Let's continue the discussion about this on the list so the other organizers can share their thoughts as well.
